Assalamu’alaikum and hi to all. It’s been a long time since 2013 and that was the last year I have updated my writing here. Now it’s already 2018 and soon will be 2019. A lot of change, as I am continue my study in degree level at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and luckily this year was my last semester!

Today, im going to tell about my short vacation last year, on 2017 at Singapore with my family. So this is my fifth times I’m going to Singapore. Before this, I go to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) on 2016.
From left me, my sister and my cousin at USS (2016)
In 2017, I’m decided to find another nice place to visit at Singapore. Since being here, I do not have to think about spending money for staying at hotel because I have my closed cousin and my Mak long who lived at Bedok, North Aveue, Singapore. So we stay at my cousin’s house. so i upload a few picture at my cousin's house in singapore. even though it was a flat but it looks luxurious right?

It’s good thing when you are having your vacation, of course you will think about best food to be eat. The place that we are going to hunter foods is at Geylang. Before I go through, first we go to the most popular Supermarket at Geylang which named Geylang Serai Market & Food Centre. If from Bedok, it cost 15 dollar to come here by taxi or grab. What is so special about Geylang Serai Market?

Pasar Geylang Serai, Singapore
Geylang Serai has the reputation for being the Malay emporium of Singapore and Geylang Serai food is almost synonymous with good authentic Malay food. There may be no better place to find a wide variety of value-for-money delicious Malay food and snacks than Pasar Geylang Serai or Geylang Serai Market. Especially when you are being here you can see mostly a lot of muslims here.

Geylang Serai Market, with its Malay Minangkabau roof design, is one of the key focal points for the Malay and Indian-Muslim communities of Singapore.

A wide variety of household items, food and cooking ingredients can be found there. This market has two levels, while at ground level there is the traditional wet market which open from 6.30 a.m until 12.00p.m and at level two, offers a very wide variety of food and beverages, cendol, nasi rawon, dam briyani, kambing soup, mee soto, goreng pisang, bandung and even Hainanese coffee. you can have breakfast and supper thereThe operation for food centre is at 8.00 a.m to 10.00p.m.

We also try Cendol Geylang Serai here and it's quite good as their Chendol ($1.50) is served in the basic purest form  just the rice flour jelly in palm sugar and coconut milk. They announced with big and small signs to the uninitiated – “No Red Beans”; and no other ingredients for that matter just a simple delicious traditional dessert.

After buying a lot of groceries here, we go to next place to have a lunch. Just by a walk, we finally arrived at Joo Chiat .

So, we decided to have a lunch at one of the most popular restaurant here named Hajah Maimunah Restaurant. Why the Singaporean have recommend this restaurant? this is because Hajah Maimunah Restaurant is offering traditional Kampung - Styled Cuisine and of course this restaurant prepares halal foods. Next, arrived at Hajah Maimunah Restaurant as we headed for lunch. It was quite pack with people during lunch hour around 1 plus and the restaurant was always in a pack! me and my cousin have to line up while my parents and my Mak Long find seats for us.As we came to this restaurant on weekend, so there were so many people here and we have to wait for long line up.

Dining here is a casual affair, as we just have to walk up to the rows of food and look at the display, order the food and pick out the dishes that we want. so the servers will know how many dining we take and they will give appropriates portions.

After picking up our food, we have to bring them over to the cashier's counter nearby where our bill will be tallied up.

This family restaurant serves about more than 30 different dishes each day not include the dessert. In addition to that, this restaurant also provides catering services.
here's a breakdown of each dishes that we got !
We go back for the menu, one of the dishes recommended here is Siput Sedut Masak Lemak. The reason why Siput Sedut Masak Lemak is a must is because the spicy lemak gravy served with fresh greens (a simple salad of kacang botol, long beans, baby brinjals and this is so refreshing added with killers special Hajah Maimunah sambal belacan.

Siput Sedut Masak Lemak (Medium, 5 dollar)

Next is Tauhu Telur which also known as fried beancurd coated with eggs. Almost every table here at Hajah Maimunah Restaurant had plate of this. This menu was served with drizzled of kicap manis, sweet black thick sauce and crushed peanuts. The taste was sweet, spicy with nutty combination. The beancuard is so smooth in the inside which blends into the black thick sauce and gives a sweet taste of it.
Tauhu Telur ( 6dollar)
We go to next dish, which is Pari Assam Pedas. This dish was stronger in the sourness of assam and was less spicy but still very tasty.
Pari Assam Pedas (6 Dollar)

Our vegetable dish called Sayur Goreng Jawa, a Javanese vegetable dish. it was made of bean sprouts and long beans. The flavour was more raw but it grew on me after the first few spoons.
Sayur Goreng Jawa(4 dollars)

Our winner dish goes to the impressive looking Ikan Bakar which was my favourite dish of the day. Butterflied cut with a light crispy on both sides, the seabass managed to stay moist! served with kicap pedas with a squeeze lime helped the sourness in the dish.

Ikan Bakar (22 dollar)

Teh Botol Sosro is for our drink. This drink is actually an iconic indonesian drinks. It is essentially a sweetened version of jasmine tea that is actually served cold. Definitely refreshing drink after having spicy food at Hajah Maimunah Restaurant.

Teh Botol Sosro ( 1.80 dollar each)

Hajah Maimunah Restaurant also serves a traditional cakes, snack and tempatan kuih muih that couldn't be resisted. The price range is between 0.80 dollar to 3.50 dollar.

Those kuih muih is picked by self service

Come here is always my favourite. Who doesn't love fast service, friendly people yet delicious food right? This is definitely a perfect place to enjoy your breakfast or lunch. Moreover, Hajah Maimunah restaurant has 2 outlets ( at Jalan Pisang and Joo Chiat Roads)  as well. Please access to the nearest.
